J. Calvin Maughan

February 5, 1932 — March 31, 2011

Benson--J. Calvin Maughan, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2011 after enjoying many "extra months" with his wife and family. He was born Feb 5, 1932 to 1. Charles and Wynona Maughan. He had five siblings. Four, Orpha, Verlan, Francis and Arden which preceeded him in death. He is survived by his sister Wynona (Clyde) Steel of Benson. He married his lifelong sweetheart, LaRee Freida Weidman, in the Logan LDS Temple on June 1, 1953. He was an active member of the Benson LDS ward where he served His Heavenly Father faithfully. He loved Scouting, being the scoutmaster for many years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver. He enjoyed camping, farming, and being with his family. He loved his family very much and was always interested in their comings and goings. He was a hard worker and always grateful that he could provide for his family. He and his wife served three full time missions and also served at the Logan LDS temple. He is survived by his wife, LaRee, and all eight of their children. Shonna (Michael) Johnson, Wayne (Teresa) Maughan, Sherry (Russ) Jones, Terry (Annette) Maughan, Larry (Laurie) Maughan, Kaylene (Steven) Bond, Fonda (John) Willis, and Richard (Anette) Maughan. He has 28 grandchildren and 25 great grand children. He has many nieces, nephews, and friends, with whom he loved to visit. He will be remembered fondly by many. We wish him well on his next adventure. Viewing will be at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 East Center Street, Logan) on Sunday April
3 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and at the Benson Ward Church Monday April 4 from 9:30 to 10:30. Funeral Services will be at the Benson Ward Church at 11 :00 am. Internment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online www.allenmortuaries.net .
