Jeannette Gibel Broughton

June 12, 1938 — July 20, 2018

Jeannette Gibel Broughton, beloved mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend, passed away on July 20, 2018 after a short bout with the physical challenges of this life.
Jeannette was born in Chinon, France on June 12, 1938 to Jean Brunanchan and Ida Deviller. She grew up there with 4 siblings and truly appreciated the blessings of her family.
As a young woman, she met and married William Broughton. They had five children – Suzette, Annette, Michael, Amy and Marianne.
After a divorce, Jeannette entered the workforce to help raise her family. She worked for many years in jobs that were very taxing physically, but she took great satisfaction in her ability to do the hard things required of her.
She then married Nick Bacila. They spent years laughing, enjoying food and taking drives.
She stayed in her home between Los Lunas and Belen, New Mexico until she became an empty nester, after which she moved to Albuquerque to be closer to her employment with a smaller apartment to care for.
After many years of working, she retired and moved to Logan, Utah. Unable to sit around unemployed, she found work again – this time in the software chip manufacturing arena. After several years, she fully retired.
She eventually settled at the River Park complex on the south side of Logan. She had many wonderful friends and experiences in the community of those apartment complexes.
She was devoted to serving others. Seldom would you visit her apartment and not find that she was either preparing food for neighbors or knitting blankets for anyone that she could find to give them to. She donated hundreds of baby blankets to causes all over the world. The yarn industry will notice her absence.
She was active in the Riverwalk Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She treasured her friends there.
She is survived by her five children – Suzette (California), Annette (New Mexico), Michael (& Bonnie – Tennessee), Amy (& Eric – Utah), and Marianne (California) - nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Jean Brunanchan, step-father Paul Gibel, and mother Ida, as well as by two sisters.
As a family, we wish to extend a heart-felt statement of appreciation to the many individuals who have rendered care and concern over the period of time that Mom has lived in Logan. Most recently the staff at the Logan Regional Hospital has been very caring and attentive. So many others have played a role in Mom’s happiness, we can never itemize our gratitude. We are indeed grateful for all the love and support that we have felt.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the people at Options for Independence. Through many years, they provided countless opportunities for Jeannette to experience activities, events and the beauties of this life in ways that she never would have had otherwise. In lieu of flowers, we feel that she would greatly appreciate donations be directed Options for Independence- 106 East 1120 North Logan, Utah 84341 to benefit this wonderful organization.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 28th at 1:00 at the LDS Stake Center located at 350 West 700 South. Arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.com
