Jed Burnell Parkinson's Obituary
Jed Burnell Parkinson, 54, of Alturas, CA, passed away unexpectedly January 12, 2012, at Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV. He was born in Logan, Utah on June 26th, 1957, to Burnell C. and Rhonda Parkinson. He was raised in Wellsville, Utah and made his home in Alturas in 1997.
Jed was a professionally licensed Civil Engineer for the U.S. Forest Service in Alturas; he was also very involved in the Elks organization, serving as their Treasurer for 6 years. He also obtained his pilot's license in 1985, due to his love of flying. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, watching basketball, especially the Utah Jazz and NASCAR as well as spending time at home with his wife Tammy of 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Burnell C. Parkinson. He is survived by his wife Tammy Helwick Parkinson, mother Rhonda Horsley, step-father Don Horsley, two daughters Desiree and Danielle Reyes, two brothers Kent (Wendy) and Scott (Kim) Parkinson along with sister, Jan (Craig) Lofthouse and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jed graduated from Sky View High School in 1975, then continued on to graduate from Utah State University in 1979, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After graduating he began work with the U.S. Forest Service, which allowed him to obtain positions in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Alaska and California. He married his wife Tammy in 1990 in Lake Tahoe, NV, and was planning to retire in June of2012.
Jed and his wife Tammy were planning to travel with their Fifth wheel trailer to all 50 states after his retirement.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 E. Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to services at the mortuary from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.He will then be buried in the Wellsville Cemetery located at 400 North 200 East.
