Jeneane Campbell King of McLean, Virginia, a native of Providence, Utah, died on Monday, September 23, 2013 of Metastatic Leiomyosarcoma Cancer. She lived courageously with cancer since 1995. Jeneane was born in Logan, Utah to Theron Mathews Campbell and Lucille Mae Baer Campbell on June 14, 1946. She is the wife of Lieutenant General James C. King, United States Army, retired. They were married in 1968 and sealed in the Washington, DC Temple. She was the mother of three daughters: Jennifer King Stephens (Robert), Riverton, Utah; Katherine King Ragle (Dr. Nathan), Salt Lake City; Elizabeth King Perkins (Dr. Rob), Providence, Utah. She the grandmother to 10 grandchildren.
Her education was in Cache Valley schools. She was a graduate of South Cache High School in 1964 and a graduate of Utah State University in 1968.
She lived with Jim and her children in Japan and Germany for about 10 years, loving the cultures and people of both countries. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and the world and loved meeting people and visiting historical sites around the world.
After 20 moves in 33 years of Jim's military career, they made their home in McLean, Virginia.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in many capacities throughout her life. She was a member of The Old Main Society of Utah State University. She supported military support groups for 33 years to include Chairperson, Southern Germany Desert Storm Support Group. She was an active Red Cross volunteer, trustee for a humanitarian foundation, and dedicated countless hours to supporting the US Army Military History Institute Oral History Program, Carlyle, PA. In recognition of her many years of service to others, she was awarded the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Award.
She loved nature and animals. She and Jim enjoyed gardening at their Virginia home. Reading, knitting, talking daily with her daughters and frequently visiting the families, especially her grandchildren, brought her joy and happiness in her life.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her three daughters, their spouses and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by her four siblings: Richard Campbell of Grace, Idaho; her sisters, Kathryn Kelly (Neal) of Torrington, Wyoming; and Louise Hill (Claire) of Liberty, Utah. Her parents, Theron and Lucille Campbell and brother Garr Campbell preceded her in death.
Graveside services for Jeneane will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the Providence City Cemetery in River Heights, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at
