Jennett (Jennie) Olsen Hovey
MILLVILLE, UTAH: – Jennie Olsen Hovey, 97 passed away on Thursday December 14, 2006 at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah from causes incident to age.
Jennie was born Sept. 1, 1909 in Logan to Heber and Eliza Nyman Olsen. She was the sixth of eight children. She married Vern Hovey on August 18, 1928. He passed away in March of 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Jennie is survived by her four children: VaLoyce (Dean) Jensen, Hughson, Calif.; Janeil (Ray) Bankhead, Wellsville; Arlan (Gayla) Hovey, Millville, Clint (Teresa) Hovey, Millville; ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Other special people in her life are Joe (Robin) Holland, Cache Junction, and Velma Olsen of Ammon, Idaho.
As a young girl at home in Logan she worked with her dad on the farm milking the cows, hoeing and thinning the sugar beets. Jennie helped her mother with house work, cooking, and canning and learned all the trick and trades of homemaking.
When Jennie and Vern were married she moved to Millville to raise her family and care for Grandma Hovey. She was Postmaster of Millville for 24 years and a member of the Lusannah Hovey DUP. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holding many positions. She was a relief Society teacher for many years. She loved to sew and made many quilts.
Jennie loved being with her family and her home was always open to visitors.
We love you mom and thank you for being such a great mother.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Sunshine Terrace, and Dr. Stones for their compassionate service to Jennie.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 18, 2006 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary chapel, 34 East Center. A viewing for family and friends will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM and from 10:30 to 11:45 am on Monday prior to services. Internment will be in the Millville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Sunshine Terrace Alzheimer’s Unit in Jennie’s name.
