Jerilee Spence

August 27, 1956 — February 22, 2025

Wellsville

Jerilee Nielsen Spence (68) of Wellsville, Utah, passed away February 22, 2025 from a lifelong battle with type 1 diabetes. Jerilee was born August 27, 1956 in Logan, Utah to Jerry & Carol Nielsen.

At the young age of 3 years old the family moved to Mesa Arizona where she spent her childhood and teenage years. Her favorite memories were when she returned back to Wellsville in the summer months to spend time with her Grandparents, cousins and other cherished friends.

After graduating High School she completed 1 year at Mesa Community College and later returned back to Northern Utah where she met the love of her life at a softball game. Jerilee was an avid sports lover. Her favorite sports were womens fast-pitch softball and tennis which everyone could count on finding on her television at any time.

March 4, 1977 John and Jerilee were Sealed to for time and all eternity in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple. Shortly after getting married they started their family of 3 children while settling in Wellsville. She thrived as a strong wife, Mother and proud Grandma. Jerilee was well known for her flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, play card games, camping, canning garden foods, country music, and spending time with her grandkids. Two of Jerilee's most favored habits were shopping and drinking diet coke (from a bottle)! Did we mention that she loved Diet Coke!

Jerilee worked many jobs to help support her family and made lifelong friends with many people that she worked with over the years. One of her favorite jobs was working at Rudy's Greenhouse where she found her true love for flowers and plants.

Her Grandkids (AJ, Sydnee, Allee, Lessie, Charlotte, Kayda, and Raegan) were her whole world. She supported each one in their unique activities and sporting events. She loved them all dearly and shared a special relationship with each one. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had a very strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Jerilee was preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Carol Nielsen, her in-laws Ivan and Shirley Spence, and both sets of her Grandparents whom she loved dearly. Jerilee is survived by her loving husband John, their 3 children Matthew (Tawnee) Spence of Queen Creek Arizona, Lyndee (Chad) Carlston of Wellsville Utah, Jenna (Trevor) Perkes of Wellsville Utah, and her seven grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Paula Nielsen of Chandler Arizona, Todd (Kim) Nielsen of Walnut California, 4 half siblings and many nieces and nephews.
