Jerry Ray Moon, age 68, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully of natural causes, Sunday March 29th, 2009. He was serving with his beloved wife as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California San Diego Mission.
He was born April 28, 1940 in Murray, Utah. Son of Elmer and Arwella Pierce Moon. He married his high school sweetheart Myrna Kay Stevenson on December 18th 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Jerry grew up in Duchesne Utah, spending many years of his life working with his father on a sheep ranch. He graduated from BYU, Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and earned many other degrees in finance. He retired from banking after 35 years.
Jerry had a strong testimony and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He held many positions in the church, including serving as an ordnance worker in the San Diego Temple. He loved serving others. The joy of his life was his beloved family. Jerry loved the outdoors and some of his happiest times were spent, camping, fishing, and "going-on-safari" with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Kay Stevenson Moon- Logan, Utah, Children- Joseph Ray Moon, SLC, Utah- Rachelle Marie Pearce, Logan, Utah- Heidi Kay (Mike) Orr, St. George, Utah- Jennifer Ann (Reuben) Hechtle, Logan, Utah- Heather Joy (Daryn) Cox. Ogden, Utah- 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, five sisters, one brother and all others who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Lorin and Rose Miles Stevenson, Ralph Stevenson, and Coleen S Bench.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Lundstrom Park Chapel 1260 N 1600 E., Logan, Utah A viewing will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan and prior to services on Friday from 9:30- 10:30 AM at the church. Burial services will be held Saturday April 11, 2009 at approximately 1 PM at the Mt Home/Boneta Cemetery, Mt Home, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at
