Jerry William Merrill

May 16, 1942 — August 19, 2007

SMITHFIELD, UTAH: Jerry Merrill, 65, passed away
peacefully in his sleep from congestive heart failure
August 19, 2007. Jerry was born on May 16, 1942 to
Samuel and Shasta Marie Merrill in Smithfield, Utah .
In 1960 Jerry graduated from North Cache High School
then went on to serve a mission in British Columbia,
Canada, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints. After his mission Jerry joined the United
States Army which he served in for 4 years. It was
while on leave from the army Jerry met and fell in
love with his sweetheart, Janet Keller, daughter of
Ulrich and Alice Keller. They where married and sealed
for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake temple on
September 9, 1965.

Jerry was a "self-taught" person and could learn or do
anything he desired. Late in life Jerry decided he
wanted to build a dream home for his wife and family.
Four years later, overcoming many health challenges,
Jerry finished their dream home. We as a family have
cherished this house and his hard work. We have loved
that it truly was built for the family with room for
everyone to come home. Jerry loved gardening
especially strawberries and raspberries because he
knew the grandchildren loved to pick and eat them and
watching them always brought a smile to his face.
Jerry was passionate about all his hobbies and loved
working with bees, trees, computers, budgeting and
genealogy. He was also an inventor who spent many
hours working on inventions that would help people
including a walker that allowed his daughter Jeri Dawn
to be mobile. Jerry was a great mechanic, excelling in
trouble shooting, which helped his children
tremendously over the years. Jerry was always there if
someone needed him and got great pleasure from helping
others..

Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Jody Ryan
Merrill and his granddaughter, Jenessa Merrill. Jerry
is survived by his wife Janet, Smithfield, and
children, Jenise (Randy) Jarrett, Mantua, Jason
(Melisa) Merrill, West Valley, James (Catherine)
Merrill, Bedford TX, Justin (Jolene) Merrill,
Clearfield, Jeri Dawn Merrill, Smithfield, Jolene
Merrill (Garrett), Salt Lake, and Matthew and Kathi
