Our beloved Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Jessie Styles Bingham, passed away of natural causes in the early morning hours of July 29, 2015.
Jessie was born is Glasgow, Scotland to Eliza Jane Hornsby and Archie Victor Styles on October 3, 1927. Mother spent the early years of her life with her mother and grandmother living on the Scottish sea shore while her father served in the British Army in India. At age 8 the family moved from Scotland to Warrington, England where she remained until age 18. On August 15, 1945 she married Charles Ross Bingham. In August of 1946, Mother along with her six week old daughter June, sailed from Manchester, England headed for a new home in America.
Mom and Dad settled in Amalga for a few years, then moved to Benson and later lived throughout the western United States while Dad worked highway construction. In 1960 they built a new home in Smithfield where they lived until Dad’s death in 1992. The majority of mother’s working career was spent as a sales clerk. Whether it was W.F. Jensen Candy Co., SOS Drug Store, Cantwell Brothers Lumber or Mountain Farm’s Cheese she always loved working with and serving the public. After her retirement she volunteered for several years at the Cache Community Food Bank.
Mother is survived by her four children: Joan Vost (John), Manchester England, June Hancey, Richmond, Utah, Joyce (Gordon) Wheeler, St. George Utah, and Vic (Nancy) Bingham of Amalga, Utah. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mother’s hard work and dedication to the family has been an inspiration to us all.
As a family we would like to thank the IHC Hospice for the loving care of Mother in her final days and hours.
