Jill Marie Mangum Cazier, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt passed away at home on Monday, August 12, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Jill was born July 28, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold Ben Mangum and Janet Mendenhall Mangum, the eldest of four living children. She graduated from Viewmont High School in 1979, and received her associate’s degree from Snow College in 1981, and her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Utah State University in 1983. She married Steven Charles Cazier in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS temple on March 14, 1986, and together they raised a son and twin daughters. She taught 1st, 2nd and 4th grade during her 38 years at Providence Elementary School (she was a proud Panda!) and received the 2018 Teacher of the Year Award for Providence.
Jill had a great love for the outdoors and learned to drive a motorcycle at age 12. Throughout her youth, she spent every summer camping and riding motorcycles all over Utah and parts of Wyoming with her parents and siblings, grandparents, and extended family. Jill was also an excellent pianist and guitarist and loved playing her guitar for family singalongs around the campfire. As an adult, she enjoyed yearly camping trips to Tony Grove with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Jill loved being a grandma, and spent many precious hours baking, singing, and reading with her grandchildren. Jill also loved the Christmas season and instigated a Christmas Eve tradition of leaving an anonymous note with treats at homes with Christmas lights and decorations she and her family particularly enjoyed.
Jill was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a strong testimony of the gospel and served in many callings in Relief Society and Primary, as well as Sunday School teacher and ward missionary.
Jill is survived by her husband Steven; her children Curtis Steven (Whitney) Cazier, Lora Marie (Kemish) Castro, and Lindsey Ann Cazier; seven grandchildren: Charlee, Ada, Eli, Ruth, Andre, Luca and Isaac; her parents Harold Ben and Janet; her siblings Darrell (Julie) Mangum, Gary (Candice) Mangum, and Kay Lynn Mangum; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents in-law, W. Doyle and Kathryn Cazier; twin brothers Bret Harold Mangum and Bart Bayard Mangum; and a nephew, Jeremy Cazier.
