Joan Carol Hart Haycock

November 7, 1936 — October 22, 2018

Joan Carol Hart Haycock, 81, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 22, 2018.

Joan was born on November 7, 1936, in Boise, Idaho to Ruth Marie French and Keith Raymond Hart. Joan’s fondest memories of her childhood are spending time in the home of her grandmother, Fern Hart. She also loved riding atop her father’s shoulders as they walked into the foothills near Boise, where she would watch the wild horses while her father would fly his model planes.

Joan attended schools in Idaho and Utah. After graduating from South High School in Salt Lake City, she attended Stevens Henager College graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Business.

Not long after being named Queen of the Track in Salt Lake City’s stock car circuit she met and began dating top race driver, Ralph H. Haycock. They were subsequently married on January 14th, 1956 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. They are the parents of seven children: Pamela (Kerry Baxter), Deborah (Richard Carlisle), Mary (Guillermo Antivilo), Linda Ann (Marvin Haws), Alice (David Winberg), Carol (Werner Nielson), and Matthew (deceased). She has 33 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was overjoyed to discover her sister Marcie Queen and her family.

Joan loved living in Hyrum for the past 39 years and cherishes the many friendships she made. When Ralph served as a Mayor of Hyrum City, she served as a President of the “Wives of Mayors” association. She also belonged to many other social clubs.

Joan enjoyed traveling with Ralph. They traveled across the United States, South America, Canada, through Europe, and Egypt.

People were regularly drawn to Joan’s beautiful smile, sweet voice, and her warm and friendly manner. She always had a kind word or compliment that endeared her to all who came in contact with her. Her tremendous faith in the Lord Jesus Christ enabled her to successfully transit through some of life’s most difficult challenges, raise seven wonderful children, and inspire countless friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. She had the ability to see the good in everyone and every situation. Joan loved everyone and was truly a woman without guile.

Joan was proceeded in death by her mother, father, brothers, beloved son, and other relatives.

Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary, and will be held at the Hyrum 13th Ward Chapel, 95 N. 675 W. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at noon, with a viewing prior 10:30-11:30 am.
