YOUNG WARD, UTAH: JoAnn Law Olsen, 76 died December 17,2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She as born February 18, 1936 in Logan, Utah, to Vernon D. and Winona P. Law. She was the fourth of seven children. She grew up in Avon, Utah where she had many friends who she treasured through the years. But the friends she treasured most were her sisters. She attended Cache County schools and graduated from South Cache High School.
She met, fell in love and married Norman J.(Jim) Olsen on June 1, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Young Ward to start their new life together.
JoAnn loved to sew and so willingly shared her knowledge with others. She taught sewing through 4-H, Adult Education and Sew Easy Industries(part owner). She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Cache Valley Quilters. She was a past co-president of Cache Valley Quilters. Mom and Dad were called to serve in the Missouri Independence Mission in 1999. Health issued prevented her from serving the mission with Dad. Two loving sons (Douglas and Reid) donated a kidney to their beloved Mother, which allowed her to be with her family 12 more lovely years. Mom loved the Savior and taught of Him through her example and service. She served in numerous callings in the Ward and Stake. Her most treasured callings were that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Grandchildren are the light of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Norman J. Olsen, children; Curtis (Kayla) Olsen, Teresa (Evan) Call, Cindy (Bryan) Larsen, Reid (Stacey) Olsen, Douglas (Kaelin) Olsen, David (Jeannie) Olsen and Aaron (Cheryl) Olsen, 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grand children. She is also survived by her wonderful sisters, Donna Kramer, Elaine (Don) Palmer, Linda(Claire) Sparrow, and LaWana (Ben) Ferrier. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Maxiene Pearce and brother LaRay Law.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 12:00 pm in the Young Ward LDS Chapel, 2394 West 2200 South . There will be a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Avon Cemetery.
