Joann Hansen Parkinson, 87, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, in Logan, Utah. She was born May 29, 1935, in Logan, Utah, to George Delbert Hansen and LaVelma Ruth Jones. She was the second of four children. She received her education in the Cache School District graduating from South Cache High School in 1953. She married LaVar C. Parkinson on May 18, 1956. Joann was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in her life. She worked at the IRS Ogden before leaving to raise her family. Joann lived a fulfilling life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends for Sunday dinner and holidays. She spent countless hours watching and supporting her grandchildren play sports. Joann instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, LaVar, her children, Brad (Marcia), Cory (Kayleen), Kelly (Laura), Tracy (Cindy), and Kim, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Geri Traveller, Utah, and Gayle (Clark) Hansen, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James D. Hansen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 12:30 pm, at the Wellsville 7th Ward Chapel, 660 South 100 West, with Bishop Kerry Heiner presiding. A viewing will be held at the church before the service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Wellsville Cemetery. The family wants to thank Encompass Home Care & Hospice, and Legacy House of Logan for their great love, care, and dedication to our mother over the past two years.
