JoAnn Heaps Perkes 77 loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away on Sunday January 4, 2015 at her home in Hyde Park surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 23, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Willard Heaps and Lily Dale Larsen. She grew up in Logan and attended school in Logan. She earned 4 important degrees in her live those of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her life.
She married Marvin R. Perkes on November 28, 1954 in the Logan LDS Temple and they just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Being a Sunday School teacher was one of her favorites and she loved those that she taught. She also loved to do indexing for the Church and spent many many hours on her computer.
She was employed at the Boy Scouts of America, Smithfield Implement and Gossners Foods until she retired.
She is survived by her husband of Hyde Park, a son Gary (Julie), Preston, Idhao, daughter Cindy (Hal) Olsen, College Ward, daughter-in-law Denise Perkes, Providence, daughter Pam (Jimmy) Fletcher, Hyde Park, daughter Polly (Kurt) Fornoff, Hyde Park, 30 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren with 2 more coming. Also survived by a brother Terry Heaps, Duchesne, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, a son Steven Scott Perkes, a grandson Justin Perkes and a granddaughter Whitney Fletcher and a great grandson Konnor Hugie. She was also preceded in death by a brother Bruce and a sister Jackie Chadwick.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 12 Noon, in the Hyde Park 5th Ward Chapel, 63 East Center Street. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North and at the Church on Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services.
Burial will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
