Joanne Todd Mckenna

November 2, 1935 — May 25, 2016

Joanne Todd McKenna passed from this life on May 25, 2016, surrounded by her family.  She was born November 2, 1935, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Russel & Fannie Todd, the 10th of 11 children.
Joanne attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU) on a leadership scholarship until her marriage to Earl McKenna on December 28, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple.  They are the parents of seven sons and one daughter: Todd (LaNae), Richard (Wendy), Reed (Paulette), Jon (Sherrie), Quinn (Lisa), Sheri (Calvin Egbert), Russel (Julie) and Robert (Shelly). They also have a foster daughter, Evelyn Sandoval. She has 44 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Joanne's husband, Earl, died very suddenly on August 28, 1979, leaving her to raise the children and to see that all their sons served missions.  To make sure this could happen, Joanne worked for Logan City School District and the Logan LDS Institute, where her husband Earl had taught for years.
She always served in her church: Stake & Ward Relief Society President several times, many music callings, Ward Young Women President and Lambda Delta Sigma.  After retirement, Joanne served an 18-month mission to Nauvoo, Illinois, during the new temple open house and dedication.  She served as a tour guide, accompanied for the performances, and led the mission choir, all of which she loved.
She has received several honors in her life, including first female Student Body President of Union High School in Roosevelt, UBIC Queen (Uintah Basin), Utah Mother of the Year, and Utah State University Distinguished Service Award.
She maintains that her greatest honors are her husband, Earl, her seven sons and one daughter, and the rest who have come after.
Her motto for living was "Whatever happens to you in life, you can still be happy!"  She gave MANY "Happiness" talks along with myriads of others.
The family will greet friends and family at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, on Thursday, June 2, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and before the funeral from 9:30 - 10:30 am.  The funeral will be held at the Hyde Park Center Street church, 65 East Center Street, at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3. She will be buried in the Hyde Park cemetery beside her husband, Earl.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the missionary fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
