John “Dean” Jorgensen, 81, passed away on January 17, 2022, in Tehachapi, California, due to complications of COVID-19. He was born on December 15, 1940, in Glendale, California, to Ilene Maughan and John “Jack” Nielsen Jorgensen, and was the oldest of 3 children.
He spent his early education in Burbank, California, and when he was 11 years old his family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. He graduated from Alamogordo High School, where he participated in drama, and made many life-long friendships. He then attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, CA.
Dean worked for various companies in optical systems and laser projects through the years, in the Kwajalein Islands and New England, and in 1971 he founded Optimation Inc which specialized in EDM micro machining and burr-free microhole technology.
Dean enjoyed tennis, golf, and hunting, and especially working on cars and motorcycles with his dad.
Dean is survived by his brother, Jim Jorgensen of Manchester, New Hampshire, and his sister, Nancy Miles, of Kaysville, Utah. Preceded in death by his mother and father, his son, Clinton Dean Jorgensen, and brother-in-law, George L. Miles.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah. A private family graveside will be held at a future date. Internment is in the Hyrum City, Utah, Cemetery.
