Our beloved, kind and faithful father, son, brother and friend returned to his heavenly home on October 19, 2018 due to medical complications. He was born on August 7, 1973, to Judi and Ken Roe, the 6th of 10 children. He was raised in Smithfield, Utah and lived in Layton, Utah for most of his adult life.
John attended Sky View High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. John served a faithful mission for his church in Manaus, Brazil. He loved Utah State University where he earned his B.A. in History and his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology. John spent years working with Especially For Youth as both a counselor and director where he gave numerous presentations and firesides. He taught seminary to hundreds of high school students at Preston, Bear Lake, Layton and Viewmont high schools. He most recently worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Principal Research Advisor where he traveled the world doing research and presented his findings to church leadership.
John will be remembered for his selflessness and enduring love for others. He was an example of the believers in thought, word and deed. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and spent his life testifying of Him who is mighty to save. He loved watching Matthew, Hannah, and Tyler play sports. He lived for his kids and loves them with all his heart.
John is survived by his three loving children Matthew (20), Hannah (14) and Tyler (11) and was preceded in death by his dear son McKay. He is survived by his mom and dad, Judi and Ken Roe, his grandmother, Wenda Mae Tebbs, his brothers and sisters Dusty (Amee), Sandee Everett (Craig), Rob, Robin Marshall (Jake), Nanette Stucki (Eric), Jim (Kara), Mike (Michelle) and Ryan (Megan). John has 28 adoring nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brother, Tommy and grandparents John Wilford and Ruby Montague Roe and Arthur Tebbs.
You were too young and we will miss your joy, smile, larger-than-life spirit, warm embrace, laughter, testimony of our Savior, your child-like demeanor and everything about you. You lived your life valiantly with kindness and courage every day. We love you.
