I was the third child born to the union of William A. Wayman, Sr., and Maggie Lucile Johnson Wayman on June 3, 1930. I had two brothers, Boyd Wayman and Alma Wayman, two sisters, Dorothy Trotman Parker and LuDeen Bartschi Hunsaker, two half-brothers, William A. Wayman, Jr. and Thomas Wayman, and one half-sister, Helen Wayman.
I joined the Army in July 1947 serving in Greece, Korea and Germany. I retired from military service as of October 1, 1968 at Fort Wolters, Texas and moved my family to Farmers Branch, Texas. I married Mary Stanger in August 1955. One child was born to this union, Jean Lucile Wayman on May 20, 1956 at Madigan Army Hospital, Fort Lewis, Washington. Mary lost her battle with cancer in May 1998.
In 1999, my sister Dorothy Parker, reintroduced me to Marilyn Hansen Hugie. This is the young lady I wanted to marry when I returned from my first overseas assignment in 1952 but circumstances at that time did not allow us to marry. Marilyn and I were married on March 9, 2000 in Dallas, Texas.
Russell brightened many people’s lives each day by giving them collectible coins. He was always giving and put others before himself. A viewing will be held Saturday, December 3rd from 9:30 – 10:00 am at Allen-Hall Mortuary followed by a short service and interment at Logan Cemetery with Military Honors.
