John David "Dave" Baker

LOGAN, UTAH: John David Baker, “Dave”, 50, of Preston, Idaho, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

He was born on January 24, 1961 in Bellflower, California a son of John Lavern Baker and Emma Jean Donahou. He was also raised by his loving step-mothers, Geraldine Cochran and Kathleen Baker.

He has been employed by Gilt Edge Flour Mills Inc. where he worked as an Auxiliary Manager. He was a part of a great team who were not only his co-workers but his closest friends.

Dave loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the gorgeous Idaho scenery. He could often be found sitting on the porch enjoying his view and spotting deer. Dave loved spending time with his family, being a father and a grandfather. Dave enjoyed football and is an avid Denver Broncos fan. He has lived in Arkansas, California and Idaho.

Dave is survived by his two sons and two daughters, Kevin Norris, Portland, OR; Brandy Gillespie and her husband Jerry Lee, Jr. Preston, ID; Jonathan Baker, Preston, ID; Breese Emma Baker, Dayton, ID, seven grandchildren, his parents, three brothers and six sisters, Virgil and Maureen Wicks; Christy and Perry Dickson; Wayne Wicks; Dorena and Ruben Esparza; Glenda and Nathan Cunningham; Cindy Negrete; Mark Negrete. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa Jean Negrete; Pamela Jean Baker-Stull; and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Mapleton Ward Chapel (Cub River) Idaho. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 - 1130 am. Interment will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery.
