John Michael Luke

August 8, 1979 — July 27, 2006

John Michael Luke
John Michael Luke beloved son and brother passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27, 2006 from complications of injuries suffered in a tragic accident on Monday. He was 26 years old.

John is dearly loved by family and friends. He will be missed by one and all.
John loved everyone, and always cared more about others than himself. He was exemplary in how he lived his life: sacrificing for family, friends, and strangers alike. On more than one occasion John gave the coat off his back to someone in need. He was gallant and courageous. He didn’t know the meaning of the word quit.

With John you learned to expect the unexpected. For John the unusual was the usual. Our tears for John are shed not out of anger, but out of love and gradtitude for the joy he gave to us. We wish to express our profound gratitude to our Heavenly Father for letting John be part of our lives. Our love for John knows no bounds and, to us, he is a hero.

He had an endless thirst for knowledge and learning. He graduated from Comstock High School in Comstock, Michigan. He was Biology major at Utah State University. He taught himself to read Japanese and hoped to serve the Japanese people someday. He loved all things Japanese, especially the films “Grave of the Fire flies” & “Dog of Flanders.” These films only begin to tell you his deep compassion and concern he had for others.

John was and is an amazing soul. He only ever desired what was good, right, and true: to serve a mission, get married in the Temple, and have a family. We are so happy for him because now he will be able to fulfill all his heart’s desires.

He is survived by his father Kyle Luke, stepfather Jack Reed, mother Rae Anne Reed, and his sisters Kami, Julie, and Kara Luke from Logan, Utah. And to grandmothers Carol Jean Meldrum of Young Ward and Mae Beth Luke of Kingston, Utah.
