PASCO - John Robert Kennard, 73, of Everett, Wash.,
died March 14, 2007, in Kennewick, Wash., after
suffering from symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.
Jack, as he was known by his family and friends, was
born June 6, 1933, in Logan, Utah, and only recently
moved to Pasco where he could be close to family.
The third of five children born to John Gleason
Kennard and Leona (Davidson) Kennard, Jack grew up in
several towns in Idaho, but spent the most time in
Montpelier, Idaho, before serving a mission for the
LDS church to the Union of South Africa Mission in
1953-55.
On April 12, 1956, Jack married Ruth Morris, and they
had one son, John Robert, before divorcing in 1959. In
1960 he met Patricia Bourne in Salina, Kan. They were
married in August 1961 in Patty's parents home in
Delphos, Kan. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple
in October 1962.
Jack is survived by Patricia, his wife or 45 years,
and their four children; Mary and Robert Howard of
Pasco; David and Suesan Kennard of Boise, Idaho;
Michael and Celeste Kennard of Provo, Utah; and Katie
Kennard of Pasco. He also is survived by his first son
John and Lucy Gann of Magnolia, Texas; and 19
grandchildren: Kathryn, Stephen, Jessica, Rebekah, and
Gleason John Gann; Joseph, Rhoana, Daniel, Brian,
Steven, and Alesha Howard; Nathan, Ryley, Noah and
Samuel Kennard; and Luke, Hanna, Moriah and Thomas
Kennard. He is also survived by a sister Margaret and
Jim Cox, Pleasant Grove, Utah; a brother Richard
Kennard and Jane Kennard, Ogden, Utah; He was preceded
in death by his parents and older sisters Louise
Kennard and Lanore George.
Before and after his mission, he attended Utah State
University in Logan, Utah; and Arizona State
University in Tempe, Ariz., and was a member of Pi
Kappa Alpha and Lamba Delta Sigma fraternities.
He worked as a surveyor draftsman, electrical
estimator and electrical project manager on many
private and government projects, big and small
throughout the West. Early in his career he worked on
the U.S. government's missile silo program during the
Cold War then moved around the West working on public
utility projects, city skyscrapers and co-generation
power plants in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota,
Montana, California, Arizona, Florida, Nevada, Kansas
and most recently Washington.
Since 1989, Jack and Patricia lived in Everett, Wash.,
where they attended the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Jack served in many church callings
and was known as a man who loved to give service to
his many friends and neighbors. Although he was
greatly disabled in his final days, he continued to
show love to his family and maintained his wonderful
sense of humor.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM on
Saturday at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center
St., Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services
from 11:30 to 12:30. Interment will follow at the Kennard
family site under the trees in the Logan cemetery. A
memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. April 14
at the Mill Creek LDS church in Everett.
