Jolene Eliason Merrill, age 94, of Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jolene was born on April 19, 1930, in Hyrum, Utah, to George and Cynthia Eliason, and grew up alongside her twin sister Joyce and three other siblings. She graduated from South Cache High School in 1948. She married Richard C. Merrill in the Logan Temple on July 9, 1952. Together, they had 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. During the early years of their family life, Jolene played a significant role in building up Casper's Ice Cream alongside her husband.

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jolene served in various capacities, with a special talent for working with Primary children and contributing to the Cub Scout program. She had a deep love for music throughout her life. She enjoyed singing from a young age with her twin sister Joyce and later sang with the Town Singers in Logan for many years. Many of her children and grandchildren credit her with instilling in them an appreciation for singing and music. Jolene also had a fondness for games, especially Chinese Checkers, and was known for her impressive winning streak.

Jolene is survived by her sister DeAnna Metcalf (Frank); her children Kendal (Cathy), Cynthia, Kaylene (Mike), Mardee, and Sherwin (Tiffany); as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, infant son Kelly, infant grandson Landon, twin sister Joyce, and her brothers Bud and Burton.

Viewing to be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary on Center Street in Logan on Friday, August 9th from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. 

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 10th at 12:00 noon at the Mountain Vistas Ward Meetinghouse, 1505 Whispering Meadow Lane, Kaysville, Utah.
