Jolene Mathews Shaffer

September 14, 1939 — August 4, 2024

Logan

Jolene Mathews Shaffer passed away peacefully early on the morning of August 4th, 2024

She passed her mortal test with a perfect score of 100% with her children being the preliminary judges, however I'm sure her Savior will agree with that score. Her last several years were extremely difficult for her and her family as we watched helplessly as she fought a battle with alzeimer's. With the last two years being especially hard for her not having her beloved husband by her side.

Mom was born on September 14th, 1939, to Ray Winn and June Jenks Mathews. She was the oldest of three children

She was raised in Providence Utah, where she spent her whole life with the exception of the first few years of their marriage when they moved around while dad decided on a career, and the last few years when her providence dream home that dad built her became too much for them to keep up on. At that time they moved to a 55 and older community where they stayed until dad passed away and we needed more help with her.

Mom married Jasper Dean Shaffer (dad) for time and all eternity in the Logan temple on August 7th 1959. He came to escort her back into her loving Heavenly Father and her Savior's arms just in time to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents Ray and June Mathews, her husband Dean, oldest daughter Cindy (Bob) Olsen and her brother Devon (Diane) Mathews. She is survived by her children Wendy (Si) Moosavi, Cory (Teresa) Shaffer, Lynette (Dennis) Wildman, Tricia (Shane)Nelson, and Tanya Hill, and sister Debbie (Todd) Brown. As well as 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She held many, many callings throughout her life which she loved and cherished and did her very best to magnify. Mom and dad were able to serve a mission while their health still allowed, to Mackey Idaho where they were loved deeply.

She lived her life exemplary of her savior's.

She was a loving and supportive wife. She raised her children with patience, wisdom and unconditional love. She taught by example. She is loved by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life and viewing will be held Thursday, August 8th from 10:30am-12pm at the Providence church at 355 Canyon Road. Interment will be at the Providence Cemetery.

Special thanks to the Terrace Grove Staff & Sunshine Home Health & Hospice for the wonderful care given to mom.
