Joseph (Joe) Abram passed away peacefully in Hyde Park, Utah on October 4, 2024 at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Joe was born on June 30, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Joe was the ninth of ten children of Albert and Myrtle (Child) Abram. He was raised at 2400 South State Street in Salt Lake City until he joined the Navy at age 18. Joe served as an electrician's mate in the Navy on the U.S.S. Uvalde from 1955-1958.
After he returned from the Navy, Joe served in New England States mission for the LDS Church from 1959-1961. On June 22, 1961, Joe married Elaine Porter in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1972, he graduated from Utah State University. They raised five children in Tooele, Richmond, Bountiful, Kaysville, and Fruit Heights, Utah. Joe worked as a software specialist on the F-16 at Hill Air Force Base and retired in 1987. Elaine passed away unexpectedly in 1995.
At a dance In 2001, Joe met Nancy Anderson and on May 26, 2001 they married in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. Joe's second marriage opened another wonderful chapter in his life. They lived in Island Park, Idaho and Hyde Park, Utah while spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona. Joe and Nancy traveled to several countries and often cruised to beautiful places. They also served a senior mission together in Moscow, Russia in 2006-2008 and later delivered meals on wheels.
Joe was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving as a ward and branch clerk as well as an ordinance worker at the Rexburg Temple. Joe embraced the opportunity to serve others and share his beliefs.
Joe leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Nancy, his brother Alfred and his children Teri (Doug) Nielson, Angie (Dan) Gordon, Robert (Elizabeth) Abram, and Katie (Chris) Snow; step-children Scott (Sandra) Anderson, Kent (DarLee) Anderson, and Bryce (Sandra) Anderson; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine, son Kelly and eight siblings.
Memorial services will be held Thursday October 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the LDS North Park 5th Wardhouse at 2540 North 400 East, North Logan, Utah. A family visitation will be held at 10:30 am prior to the Memorial Service.
