Logan - Joseph Woodland Cowley, 74, passed away in his sleep at sun-rise Sunday morning, August 21, 2012. Born January 5, 1937, in Cache Valley, Utah to Joseph E. and Eloise Woodland Cowley. Married Linda Rebecca Rose in the Logan LDS temple May 25, 1961 - she died May 28, 2000, preceded in death by daughter Christina Louise, survived by daughters Julia Wangsgard, Rebecca Cowley-Kim, sons, Brian Joseph Cowley, David Rawson Cowley, Daniel Spencer Cowley, 12 grandchildren.
Joseph remarried LuDean Allsop, July 6, 2000 in the Logan LDS temple, survived by wife LuDean Cowley, daughters Judy Doney, Darla Yeates, Karol Stephens, Angela Simmons, Dixie Pond, sons, Troy S Pond, Dan V pond, Jason R Pond, 41 grandchildren, 27, great grandchildren .The couple served an LDS mission in 20001 to the New Jersey Morris Town Mission where Joseph spoke much Spanish to newly arrived residents and LuDean actively taught music alongside the rest of their missionary efforts.
Joseph Graduated from North Cache High school, attended USU, served an LDS mission to Central America, farmed in Cache Valley, and served 31 years as a Logan City Fire Fighter and EMT. Joseph was always positive and upbeat in even the most trying times. Individuals he assisted in emergency care shared with family members that amidst their duress in trauma they became aware of his joyful whistling as he went about the grim work of rescue and they felt instant relief that "things just couldn’t be all that bad with him whistling."
He is a loving husband, father, and friend. We miss him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 26, 2011 at 11:00am in the Logan 3rd Ward Chapel, 250 North 400 West. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm and at the ward on Friday morning from 9:30am till time of services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
