LOGAN, UTAH: Josie Kynaston Sears, 96, of Logan, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in Brigham City, Utah.
She was born October 31, 1909 in Bountiful, Utah a daughter of Joseph and Armenia Waddoups Kynaston. She married Frederick Sears on January 29, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1981.
Josie owned and operated Freds Flowers in Logan with her husband for over 52 years. She had served as District Chairman and District Representative twice for FTD and was also the President of TeleFlora of the Utah-Idaho District. She was a honorary lifetime member of the Idaho State Florist Association, the Montana State Floral Association and the Northwest Floral Association. Josie was a top floral designer and was invited to design floral arrangements for President George H. W. Bush inauguration at the age of 88. She was know as the “Queen Bee” in the Utah floral industry, paving the way for other women in the floral profession. She was past president of the Soroptimist Club. She sponsored the American Legion and Freds Flowers baseball team for many years.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Max and Jacqueline Sears, St. George, Utah; Robert and Ruth Sears, Logan; Julie Sears and Harmon Eyre, Atlanta, GA; a sister, LaRue Kynaston Hawkins, Eureka, CA. 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Logan City Cemetery. There iwll be no public viewing. Arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences and memories may be sent to the family at
