Joycelyn Tibbitts Bitters
Our beloved mother and grandmother Joycelyn (Joycie) Tibbitts Bitters passed peacefully from this life into he arms of her eternal companion, Melvin Jensen Bitters on Saturday morning January 5, 2008.
She was born on May 14, 1916 in Providence, Utah to Edgar Tibbitts and Marie Baker Tibbitts. She was the youngest of eight children; all of whom are having a joyous reunion with her.
Joyce and Melvin were married in the Logan Temple on October 20, 1937. They were blessed with two sons, Wesley Melvin Bitters (Providence) and Arvel Tibbitts Bitters (Centerville). Two daughters arrived when their boys got married, Bonnie Kay Thayne and Daria Lyn Perkins. Joycie has 11 grandchildren and 24 ½ great grandchildren.
Joycie was a joy to everyone. She gave unconditional love to everyone, and everyone who knew her continued to love her. Even her mutual girls and strawberry pickers from years past stayed in touch with her. Everyone was her friend, and she was a friend to everyone.
The family celebrates her release from this life and from her struggles with dementia, but our hearts yearn to hug her, hear her laugh, and be with her again.
Her testimony of Christ and His gospel was pure and strong, and she taught us all through her example. Though we will sorely miss her, we rejoice in knowing that hers was a life well lived. We have no doubt that she has been enfolded into the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 12 at the Providence 2nd Ward Chapel, 309 South Main in Providence. A visitation will be held at 10 am to 11:30 am prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be extended to the family online at
