Joy Luthi Stevens

March 18, 1932 — December 27, 2009

Joy Luthi Stevens, of Logan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 in her home at the age of 77. This followed a prolonged battle with different health conditions. She was born March 18, 1932 in Freedom Wyoming to Henry and Jean Bollwinkel Luthi. She attended the Freedom grade schools and later graduated from Star Valley High School.

Joy loved sports and was an outstanding fast pitch softball pitcher. She was very athletic and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

She moved to Logan and attended Utah State University. She then moved to Salt Lake City and worked as an accountant at General Motors Insurance Corporation. At this time she met a young man named Guy Stevens. They were later married on June 17, 1960 in the Idaho Falls, ID temple.

They lived in Blackfoot, ID where they welcomed their first child, Ann. They later settled in Logan, UT and were blessed with two more children, Sally and Scott.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions during her lifetime. One of Joy’s most challenging times revolved around the early passing of her daughter Sally. She dedicated her time to nurturing and caring for her until her passing.

Joy loved watching sports and followed the Utah Jazz and the Aggies. She was also very social and enjoyed visiting with friends and family on the telephone. She loved planting flowers and maintaining a wonderful yard. She also enjoyed crafts, ceramics, and painting. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her 4 grandsons who were the love of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Jean Luthi; her daughter Sally; sisters, Faye Luthi, LaRue Petersen, Roma Luthi, and brother, Cordell Luthi.

She is survived by her husband Guy, daughter Ann (Dana) Leishman of Nibley, UT; son Scott (Cami) Stevens of Pocatello, ID; sister Kareen (Robert) Crumbaker of Dayton, WA.
She is also survived by four grandsons; Colby, Caden, Tyler, and Riley Stevens.

The family would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. Huffman and all the nurses at the infusion lab for their kindness and caring.

Funeral services will be held on December 31, 2009 at 12:00 PM in the Lundstrom Park Ward Chapel, 1260 N 1600 E in Logan .
