Woods Cross, Utah—Julien George Griffin, 90, passed peacefully from this life of causes incident to age on Thursday, May 14th, 2015.
Born on March 23, 1925 in Logan, Utah to George Duke Griffin and Rula Merle Nielsen, Julien was raised in Logan, graduating from Logan High School in 1943. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army Air Corps serving in the Pacific Theater and rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Julien briefly attended Utah State Agricultural College before relocating with his family to San Francisco, California. It was there that he met and married his sweetheart of nearly 67 years, Matie Steed. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City temple. Julien enjoyed a 37 year career with Safeway Stores, Inc., working as a data processing manager. After retirement Julien and Matie returned to Logan.
Julien was a life-long active member of the LDS church, serving in a variety of important callings. He particularly loved his role as a scoutmaster. Julien’s interests included hunting, fishing and gardening. He also traveled extensively after retirement.
Julien is survived by his wife, Matie, and children Valorie (Wil) Dredge, Farmington, UT, Gerald (Marilyn) Griffin, Rexburg, ID, Deborah (Ron) Brown, Bountiful, UT and James Griffin of Phoenix, AZ., 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, May 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at the Quailbluff LDS Ward Chapel, 1380 E. Mountain Rd, Logan, with Bishop James R. Chambers officiating. A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St, Logan, Thursday, May 21st, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and also Friday, May 22nd at 9:00 a.m. at the Quailbluff chapel preceding the funeral services.
