Karen Luthi passed away, Sunday, May 22, 2016, finally free from the tired body that tried to slow her down. She was born July 28, 1967 in Montpelier, Idaho to Cordell and Annette Luthi, and lived in Cokeville, Wyoming until 1970 when her family moved to Freedom, Wyoming. Growing up on a ranch taught her valuable lessons. She learned how to begin a job and stick with it until it was finished. Karen attended Star Valley High School in Afton, Wyoming. She loved school and her friends and excelled in sports.
Following high school, she attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. After putting herself through college, she received her Bachelor of Education. Karen completed her student teaching at Wellsville Elementary and stayed there for 23 years until she had to take a medical leave, which broke her heart. She taught 3rd grade and loved those children and the good people of Wellsville. She was born to be a teacher.
Karen accomplished much in her 48 years of life. She loved to travel and had so many things on her wish list. Over her lifetime, she had the opportunity to go many places with her dear friends. She especially loved state parks and visited many of them. Karen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She had set a goal of performing ordinance work in 50 temples, and to Karen’s credit she completed work in 46. She had wonderful coworkers and friends who stood by her side and helped her achieve these dreams. Her lifelong goal was to serve her fellow man and love her Savior. Karen was not blessed with good health, but that didn’t stop her from living life to the fullest with an optimistic attitude and contagious laugh.
She loved her nieces and nephews and was very generous with her time, love, and special acts of kindness. She is survived by 4 brothers and 1 sister: Curtis Luthi, Logan, Utah; Kelly Luthi (Robin), Smithfield, Utah; Kim Speakman (Jared), St. George, Utah; Kyle Luthi (Suzette), McKinney, Texas; Kade Luthi, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and 11 nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her father, Cordell Luthi and a niece.
