Karin Maj-Britt Brown, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and world traveler passed away in her sleep, at the age of 92, on March 10, 2025.
She was born in Store Tuna, Sweden, on May Day in 1932.
She is the youngest of 5 children, born to Per and Anny Margaretta Persson.
At just 2 years old Maj-Britt lost her mother to tuberculosis, her father, struggling with asthma, also passed when she was 16. Despite these early losses, Maj-Britt remained a happy child, running and playing in the fields of flowers near her home in Simea, Halsingland, Sweden.
After completing her schooling, including becoming fluent in English, Maj-Britt left her country town in the North of Sweden for Stockholm. There she took an additional secretarial course and began working in that field. She enjoyed her time and the experience she gained in the big city, but her adventurous soul beckoned her to travel.
At the age of 21, She decided to visit America, for 2 years. Her plans changed dramatically, as those 2 years turned into 21 years, before she would return to her beloved homeland, brothers’ and sisters’ families and other remaining, extended family members in Sweden.
While in America, Maj-Britt, being an avid reader and seeker of truth, embraced a new religion, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She also met a married her husband, Lionel William Brown, whom she married in the Logan Temple on July 5th, of 1957.
Together they built their lives, a home, and raised 5 children in Logan, Utah.
Maj-Britt resumed her secretarial positions, first working at the Utah State University Computer Center, then as a medical secretary, at the Budge Clinic, and eventually working as a legal secretary for a large firm in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Maj-Britt’s love for her homeland remains strong. She valued her Swedish traditions and heritage and shared them with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was able to revisit Sweden 5 times throughout her life, maintaining loving bonds with her Swedish family and roots.
Maj-Britt’s passion for travel took her and her husband, Lionel, far and wide, exploring many countries and cultures throughout the world.
Maj-Britt and Lionel shared a love of the gospel. They served in numerous callings, devoted time to Family Research, worked in the West Jordan Temple’s Baptistry, and served an inner-city mission in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Maj-Britt will be remembered by her family and loved ones for her kindness, her strength in the face of hardship, her unyielding sense of adventure, and her wonderful – contagious laughter.
Maj-Britt said farewell to her husband in August 2017, after Lionel had spent all his 9 lives, he passed away due to a massive stroke.
Maj-Britt was also preceded in death by her four siblings and her daughter, Cristy Anne Brown. She leaves behind her four remaining children: Karen (Larry DeBirk); Dave (Janine) Brown; Lisa Raye (Ron Isom); Greg (Christy) Brown; 12 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and her final in-law, Bonnita Young.
