Karma Read

Karma Read passed away early Thursday morning March 4, 2010 in the Logan Regional Hospital. She was born in Smithfield, Utah May 16, 1924 to William Benjamin Read and Annie Mae Hill. the fifth of nine children. She was raised in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond. Karma served an LDS mission to the Central United States, and was a member of the LDS Smithfield Second Ward. Karma was the production manager for Mode-O-Day clothing company in Logan, having worked there for many years. She particularly enjoyed reading and associating with a close group of friends. She had a special love for Yellowstone National Park and Tony Grove Lake, and spent much time visiting both places. Karma was preceded in death by her parents, twin sisters Donna and Wanda and Joyce Read Shumway, brothers Leon, Jay and Darwin. She is survived by two brothers, Dale (Darlene) Read of Smithfield, Utah and Paul (LuAnn) Read of Garland, Utah. Short services will be held Monday at noon at the Allen Mortuary in North Logan 420 East 1800 North. Interment will be in the Smithfield City cemetery.
