Kathleen Daines Parker

May 26, 1957 — June 15, 2017

After a protracted battle with cancer, Kathleen Daines Parker died June 15, 2017, in San Diego, California, at the age of 60. She leaves behind her husband, Russell Parker; her daughter, Andrea Rogers (Cavan); and two sons Jacob and Ryan.
Kathleen was born May 26, 1957, in Logan, Utah, to father Spencer Hansen Daines and mother Sarah Lizzie Seamons Daines who predeceased her.
Kathleen grew up in a large, loving family with three sisters and three brothers in North Logan, graduating from Sky View High School in 1975. She met and married Russell Parker in 1979 and graduated cum laude from Utah State University in 1980 majoring in Business Administration. Russell's job as an electrical engineer would take Kathleen and their family to Phoenix, Albuquerque, and the towns of Redlands and Rohnert Park in California, before finally settling in San Diego, where she lived for the past 19 years.
Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother in addition to being a piano teacher, stock market day trader and accomplished calligraphist. She was steadfast in her service to her church, spending many hours leading, teaching and providing service to others, especially in the Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She never let her diagnosis get the best of her. She was voracious in her pursuit of knowledge about her condition and completely engaged in living the best life she could.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, children and four grandchildren (Casen, Cooper, Mia and Jackson) as well as sisters, Deanna Winn ( David) and Carol Quistberg (Duane); brothers, Spencer Daines (Sheila) and Ron Daines (Robin); and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maureen Hodgen (Robert); and brother Richard Daines (Laura).
A memorial service will be held July 1, at 11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 42 W. 200 South, Hyde Park, Utah. Kathleen will be interred at the family plot in the Hyde Park Cemetery in Hyde Park, Utah. The family would especially like to thank the Penasquitos 2nd Ward Relief Society in San Diego, California, and numerous friends for their untiring support during Kathy's long ordeal; and Allen-Hall Mortuary of Logan for making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Condolences may be expressed online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
