KAYSVILLE – Kathleen Kirby Sorensen, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday November 5th at the Villas at Baer Creek in Kaysville, Utah where she resided.

Kathleen was Born July 25, 1929 in Providence Utah at the home of her maternal grandparents, the Zollingers; born to Owen and Edna Z. Kirby. She graduated from North Cache High School. Continuing her education, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Utah State Agricultural College in interior design.

She married Orval Cole Sorensen, from Logan, Utah, 1951 in the Logan Temple. She enjoyed art. As a young mother she made time to paint pictures and create mosaics.

She was a hard worker and good listener. She loved nature, her family and the gospel. Her favorite hiking locations included the Wind River and Uintah Mountains. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kathleen and Orval served in various family history capacities including a Service Mission in Salt Lake City. Together they compiled and authored over twenty volumes of the history of ancestors and of their own family and others.

Kathleen is survived by their five children, Reed (Callene) Sorensen, Layton, Utah, David (Lynda) Sorensen, Fruit Heights, Utah, Eldon (Deena) Sorensen, Eagle, Idaho, Ann (Ken) Plaizier, Layton, Utah, Linda (David) Jones, Honeyville, Utah; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Orval, her parents, Owen and Edna, and her brother Sherwin Kirby; a great-grandson Noah Steed Pew; and a grand daughter-in-law Megan Call Jones.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 15 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Country Lane chapel (Fruit Heights 4th Ward) at 24 South Country Lane, Fruit Heights, Utah 84037. A 9:30a.m. viewing will precede the 11:00a.m. funeral. Condolences may be sent via https://www.allenmortuaries.net/obituaries. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery, 2:30pm.
