Kathleen Wiberg

Kathleen Faye Forbes Wiberg, 73, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away the morning of December 10, 2018. Kathy was born May 27, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Herbert Walton and Anna Laura Pabst Forbes.

Kathy was bright and inquisitive as a child. She loved collecting ceramic animal figurines and reading. She sang, played piano, and the accordion. Music was something she always had a deep love and appreciation for. She excelled in school, becoming the salutatorian of her high school class. She had a love of animals from an early age. Throughout her life there were many loved pets, from the collie of her early childhood to most recently Lucky the cat. There were many dogs, cats, birds, and other animals fortunate enough to be cared for by her. She enjoyed doing puzzles and spent many hours in this pursuit with her children and her husband, Rod. She also enjoyed sewing. She made many baby blankets and hand stitched wedding quilts for her children. She married Lloyd Knowles in 1965 with whom she had seven children. They later divorced, leaving her open to meeting her love, Roderick Allen Wiberg. Kathy was set up on a blind date by Rod’s brother and his wife. Rod came to pick up Kathy to find a row of children sitting on the couch to check out her date. They went to the Glenn Miller dance festival at Utah State University. Neither of them really enjoyed dancing, but they did that night. Rod proposed over Valentine’s weekend and they were married two months later. They married on Good Friday, April 17, 1992, in the Logan, Utah Temple. The day dawned clear with bright blue skies, with some spring rain that afternoon. The temple was surrounded by spring flowers and a magnolia in full bloom. Rod recalls that none of this could compete with the light that radiated from Kathy. He remembers her glowing, they were both beaming. Her beautiful smile and bright blue eyes added luster to the light exuded from her very being. Rod brought four children of his own to the marriage, for a total of eleven children. They settled in Littleton, Colorado, where they have lived for the past 26 years. Kathy loved light and their new home was full of light, to seal the deal there were horses in a pasture behind the house. Kathy loved family. Family was what it was all about. Her children and grandchildren were always on her mind. She attended many band, orchestra, and choir concerts. Countless soccer, football, and other sporting events were graced by her presence. She was always a support to her family, no matter what. She showed them through her example how to love, to laugh, to be compassionate, and to love the Lord. Her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was central in her life. She served in the temple whenever she could. She and Rod served a service mission in the church welfare center. She was a beautiful daughter of our Heavenly Father who humbly followed Jesus Christ’s example throughout her life.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Roderick Wiberg; children: James R. (Lauralee) Knowles; Justin R. (Yvette) Knowles; Arie J. (Isabel) Wiberg; Christen E. (Catherine) Knowles; Danielle M. (Tyler) Braithwaite; Tasha K. (Mark) Greenwood; Dustin S. (Carolyn) Wiberg; Heather K. (Cosme) Salazar; Tami K. (Eric) Diaz; Stefan M.W. Knowles; Grandchildren, Joshua, Melissa, Peter, Jasmine, Jeremy, Briana, Jennifer, Matthew, Haley, Jonathan, Michael, Emily, Tysen, Emma, Abram, Mason, Ole, Benjamin, Laura, Alexander, Natalia, Avery, Maren, Ryan, Grant, Noah, Olivia, Ruby, Evelyn, Ava, Cosme Jr., Penny, Malachi, Julianne, Emerson and Alayna. Kathy is also survived by her sisters Terri (Tom) Simmons and Heidi Snyder.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Anna, and by her son and daughter-in-law Ryan A. and Holly Wiberg.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, from 6:00-8:00pm, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO. 80227

Services and burial will be held at a later date in Logan, Utah.
