Kathleen Grant Bergsjo, 85, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006 at her home in Logan.
She was born on May 17, 1920 in Hyde Park, Utah to George Molen Grant and Caroline Humpherys. She was the second of their three children.
Kathleen attended school in Hyde Park and graduated from North Cache High in 1938. After graduation, she worked in a department store and a defense depot in southern California. She later returned to Logan and worked as a seamstress for Mode O’Day.
Kitty met the love of her life, Oliver Anton Bergsjo, at a dance at the Dansante in Logan. They were married on September 7, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the proud parents of three children: Janice, Grant, and Carol Ann. They shared 58 wonderful years together as a family.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her many callings in Junior Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society in the Logan 11th Ward. Kitty was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, PTA, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also served as an election judge and volunteered at Beehive Clothing Distribution Center in Logan.
Mom’s hobbies were her husband, Ollie, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her home and yard. She had many trials in life, including two open heart surgeries, and never being able to ride a bike or crochet even a simple chain stitch. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing embroidery.
Kathleen is survived by her loving children, Janice (James) Maples, Grant (Linda) Bergsjo, and Carol (Marc) Raleigh; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Martha Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Julia, her husband, Ollie, and her older brother Lothair.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Glenn O. Mortensen, the ICH Hospice and Home Care nurses and staff, especially Dodie Lemieux, for their loving and tender care.
