Kathleen Isaacson Nelson

August 7, 1938 — May 25, 2010

Kathleen Isaacson Nelson 72 passed away May 25, 2010.

Kathleen was born August 7, 1938 in Tremonton, Utah to John Lewis and Marie Charity Lyday Isaacson.

She was loved deeply by her grandchildren, and passed away while doing what she enjoyed most, attending the event of a grandchild.

Mom grew up in Box Elder County attending and graduating from Box Elder High School.
She had many happy childhood memories living in Honeyville and Mantua .

Following her high school graduation she worked in Salt Lake City as a secretary and shortly after met her husband of 53 years Grant LaMar Nelson. They married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 16, 1957.

In 1963 they gathered their then small family to serve a building mission, where they spent 3 years building one of the first LDS chapels in Vina Del Mar Chile.

Upon returning from their mission they returned to their home in College Ward, Utah where they raised their family of 6 children; Ann (Vince) Saunders, Payson; Grant LaMar (Trish) Nelson Jr. College Ward; Jane (Stephen) Wade, West Jordan; Sandra (Michael) Ricks, Benson; Fred Jay Nelson, New York; Janice (Mike) Dopp, Vernal.

Mom loved music. She spent many hours playing the piano for her children while they sang throughout the valley. She taught her family to love and appreciate music and served as ward organist and pianist for all organizations in the church.

She loved the gospel and quietly served in many capacities. Some of her favorite callings were Home Teaching with her husband, visiting the widows in the ward and providing quiet service to them. She has served with her husband at the Bishops Storehouse, and as Hosts and Tour Guides at the Logan Tabernacle. She served in the Logan LDS Temple for 10 years.

She was a loving grandma to 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, infant grandchild and son in law.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the College Ward Chapel, 2394 West 2200 South. There will be a viewing at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church on Saturday, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services.
