Kaye Jean Kennington Broadbent, 82, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023, surrounded by family.
Kaye was born in Osmond, Wyoming, on March 3, 1941. Her parents, Lloyd Carlos Kennington and Naomi Ruth Lindberg, moved their family from Wyoming to Logan, Utah, when Kaye was a sophomore in high school. She began attending Logan High School where she met David James Broadbent. They quickly became inseparable. She married her high School sweetheart David on Aug 10, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
David and Kaye started their family in Logan, Utah, where Tom was born. Soon after David graduated from Utah State University, the family moved to California where Warren and Mike joined the family. In 1967, David and Kaye moved to Racine, Wisconsin where James and Heather completed their family unit. They stayed in Racine as David worked to support their family for 30 years with Johnson Wax and Kaye served and loved the people in Wisconsin. In 2001, Kaye and David then moved from Wisconsin to Smithfield, Utah, after David retired to be closer to their family.
Kaye was always busy doing something to beautify her home or give a gift to others. She would often be found sewing, making blankets, toll painting, cross-stitching, making cards and letters for her kids and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano and missed it when she couldn’t later in life. She was talented with cooking / baking and enjoyed trying new recipes and making old favorites. Her fondest times included her family surrounding the table and a lovely meal together.
Her absolute devotion and love for her Savior was evident in her life. As a true disciple of Jesus Christ, she loved sharing and teaching the gospel to her family. Kaye devoted her time to many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully to show her love to her Heavenly Father through her leadership and love of others. Throughout her life, she exemplified being a disciple of Christ and ministered to others thoughtfully. She sought to build the kingdom of God on both sides of the veil by serving in the temple. Her time serving as a temple worker in the Logan, Utah temple was precious to her.
Her greatest treasures have always been her family – her husband, sons and daughters, 11 grandkids, 16 great grandkids, as well as her extended family.
She is survived by her husband, David James Broadbent and 4 sons and 1 daughter: Her sons are, David Thomas (Monica) Hyrum, Utah; Warren Dee (Eleanor), Clinton, Utah; Michael Jay (Helen), Aurora, CO; James Dee (Becki) Kearns, UT; Heather Kaye (Anton Kirilov Ivanov), Velingrad ,Bulgaria. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Stephens, Alpine, UT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother David Lloyd Kennington, as well as brother-in-law, Jack Stephens.
