Keith Lloyd Blair

May 8, 1922 — October 18, 2014

Keith L. Blair, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2014, in Providence, UT. Born on May 8, 1922 in San Jeronimo, Cuba to Jamaican parents, Keith and his family moved to Nickel Hill, Jamaica, where he spent his childhood. As a young adult, Keith traveled to the United States as a migrant farmworker in the midst of World War II to help with the seasonal harvest. He then moved to Brooklyn, New York where he became a U.S. citizen in 1958. He worked as a professional renovator throughout his career in New Canaan, Connecticut. One of his prized possessions was his Late Night jacket that was given to him by David Letterman when Keith renovated Letterman’s house.
Keith was a happy, gentle soul who greeted everyone he met with a warm smile and kind words. He was always the perfect host. He had the ability to make everyone feel welcome, and made sure no one left his home without being fed, preferably with his famous ribs and rum punch. He also loved helping others and would be the first person friends would call when a household emergency arose. He devoted much time to Habitat for Humanity to help others live better.
Keith is survived by his children Sonia Saunders (Granville) of Georgia, Keith Blair (Nilsa) of New Jersey, Ariel Blair (Jim Bay) of Providence, UT, and Alan Blair (Michelle) of Maryland, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Blair and Agatha Snaith; his siblings Joyce Blair, Sylvan Blair, Blair, twin brother Rudolph Blair; the mothers of his children: Maria Hutton, Ruth McNeill, Sylvia Blair; and his son Roxroy Blair.
Keith will be remembered for the his wit and generosity, the flirtatious twinkle in his eyes, his beautiful flower gardens, and his routine of driving his maroon 1966 Mustang convertible with his dog in passenger seat.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, October 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Logan, 178 W Center St, with a viewing beginning at 11:30 am followed by a service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Alzheimer’s Association ( http://www.alz.org/ ).
The family would like to thank his friends and staff at Williamsburg Retirement Community where he lived for two years, and the wonderful staff at Cache Valley Assisted Living. We will all miss his kindness and humor.
