Keith Clark Homer

Keith C. Homer returned to his heavenly home during the early morning hours of May 28, 2018. Born January 2, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Ut to Raymond Homer and Olga Johnson Homer. He is survived by his Wife Marla Brown Homer, Daughters, Kira (Scott Matthewson), Brittny (Jeremy Lucherini), Kristi (Charles Price), Merissa Homer; Sons, Brent (Robyn) Homer, Tyler Homer and Christopher Homer (Zeque Murillo); Parents, Raymond and Olga Homer; Sisters, Gayle (Donald Jackson), Valoy (Robert Bowers), Mary (Lew Bennett), Lorilyn Homer; Brothers, Raymond Homer (Yvonne), Kelly Ross Homer, Julio Homer (Pinky), Oscar Homer (Jaime). He is preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Michael Homer and Adam Alma Homer.

He met the love of his life, Marla Brown, working at a movie theatre in Provo and asked her to marry him just two short weeks after they started dating. They were sealed in the Provo, UT LDS Temple July 31, 1982. They grew in their love and their appreciation for each other over their nearly 36 years of marriage and had 7 children together and 11 grandchildren. Keith loved Marla to his last days and Marla showed her unfailing love for him by being his companion and dedicated the last months of Keith’s life to being his caretaker.

Many will remember him as a true friend and a light with an energizing and sincere smile. Even in the most intense parts of his battle with cancer, he chose to share his testimony to shine as a light to others. He loved the lord and the gospel and served an LDS mission to Kaohsiung Taiwan. He opened his home and his heart over the years and acted as a surrogate father, mentor and trusted advisor to many. During his last months, hardly a day, or even an hour would go by without friends and family stopping by to tell him how much of an impact he had on their lives. He had an incredible ability to help those around him feel seen, loved, and important and often had valuable advice to share. He was loved widely and even by those who only knew him for a short amount of time.

Keith was a skilled gardener and enjoyed turning his harvest into his world famous pico de gallo. During the summer months he would make many batches to enjoy while watching sports or spending time with his family at the barbecues he loved to host. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. These outdoor activities were more than just a hobby for him, but more of a calling. He was most in his element when he was in nature and particularly enjoyed his many trips to Alaska. He was an impassioned sports fan and loved watching, playing, coaching and being a ref. He loved playing all sorts of competitive games and often would make up new rules for friends and family to follow. He worked hard providing for his family, and enjoyed relaxing with a good western or spy novel, or doing a puzzle. One of his children’s fondest memories growing up was when daddy would get down on all fours and let his children tackle him to the ground. The tradition continued with his grandchildren, who were some of his greatest joys. Keith combined his love of travel and service through multiple service trips to Mexico where he used his roofing skills to build homes for others. Keith was the founder of Homer Roofing and was a member of the Cache Valley Home Builders Association for many years.

He was able to pass at home surrounded by family after a well fought four and a half year battle with cancer. His family sends their most sincere love and gratitude to the Intermountain Hospice Care Team who took such good care of him and enabled him to experience so much comfort in his last days.

A viewing will take place Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 beginning at 2:00 PM at the River Heights 3rd Ward chapel, 465 N. 300 E., with a viewing from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Interment will take place in the Providence City Cemetery.
