Keith Leishman

March 5, 1916 — January 2, 2012

Keith Cooper Leishman passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 2,2011 at Legacy House with age related symptoms at age 95. Keith was born on March 5, 1916 to James Ad and Caroline Cooper Leishman. He was the youngest child having one brother and three sisters. He attended school in Wellsville and graduated from South Cache High School.
He has lived to see many wonderful things in his life from model T Fords to the Jet airplanes, space travel and all the electronic developments that have taken place which he has always been in awe over the change of the times.
Dad married his sweetheart Irene Anderson on June 19,1935 in the Logan LDS Temple The year they were married he built their home in Wellsville just two doors North of where he was born and raised. He dug the basement with a pick and shovel, a Fresno scraper and team of horses. He and Mom celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary on June 19 this past year just a month before his dear wife Irene passed away on July 21st.
Dad farmed all his life and was such a hard worker. His farm land was the best looking farm in the east fields. He took great pride in his farm and animals. He had the first Grade A Dairy setup in Wellsville. He saw his farming move from hand plows and a team of horses to a little more modem age. He later had a Ford Tractor that made his life a little easier. He loved watching the crops grow. He loved his animals and especially enjoyed his horses and was such a friend to each of them .. He loved going on horseback rides and was a member of the riding club for years. He loved to take along his grandchildren on rides in the hills. Dad was known for his beautiful large garden and loved tending it in his later years and sharing the produce from the garden.
He was known for his willingness to always lend a helping hand and always willing to share his talent of a beautiful tenor voice. Dad joined the Wellsville Choir at age 16 and was a member for 70 years. He was in many musicals in High School He had such a beautiful tenor voice and many remarked he should be out making a living with his voice instead of farming. He was such a good honest man and always taught his children to be the same.
Dad held many church callings, i.e. member of 3 bishoprics, high priest group leader, ward clerk, and was devoted to whatever calling he had. He and Mom attended the temple weekly doing hundreds of names and sealings. Their home was always a welcoming place for the family and friends and there were many happy times spent in their home.
He is survived by three of his four children Gary (being the eldest who is deceased) (Carol) of Wellsville, Eloise (Clair) Obray, River Heights, Jim (Gae) Leishman, Harrisville, Mike (Connie) Leishman, Wellsville. He is proud of his 13 grandchildren and 23 Great children and 4 great-great grandchildren. His four siblings deceased are Irvin Leishman, Dora Hall, Ethel Selley and Inez Miller One grandson, Greg Obray) also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 6th at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan.
