Kelly Jay Hadfield

July 15, 1955 — August 10, 2019

Kelly Jay Hadfield, 64, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 10, 2019 in Murray Hospital. He was born in Logan, Utah to Max and Marie Nielsen Hadfield.

He enjoyed his childhood with his six siblings. He attended Elementary and Junior High School in Logan where he learned to play the violin. He graduated from Sky View High School. He served in the Japan Fukuoka mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Marketing. He was employed at Trend interiors after graduation until his death.

He enjoyed playing sports and played many years on the Trend Interiors softball team, formed a basketball team and a volley ball team and played in many city leagues. He was a licensed Ham radio operator and volunteered as radio support at many marathons and bicycle races.

He married Lucille Hancey in 1987 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.

His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he was very involved in their interests. They would often find a court and play basketball.

He was very dedicated in the many church callings in which he served and cherished the friendships he made. He was currently serving at a university YSA Stake at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, and his six siblings, Randy (Kathryn), Brent (Sheri), Jan Reese (Tracy), Mark (Liz), Linda Garrett (Doug), Kent; children, Ryan Bindrup, Christina Bushman (Bryan); grandchildren, Alex, Corban, Merick, Genevieve.

Preceded in death by grandparents, William and Grace Hadfield, Wilford and Leona Nielsen, sister-in-law Karrie Hadfield.

He is a very kind, compassionate person and will be missed by family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Eastridge Ward Chapel, 1350 Eastridge Drive in Logan. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan, and prior to the services on Friday at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
