LaFaye Mickelson Reeder passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26th. She was 86 years old.
Faye was born on May 29, 1932 to Earl and Allie Mickelson in Millville, Utah.
She was the second of five children. Faye was raised in Logan City and attended Logan City schools. In 1953 she married Martin (Corky) Reeder in Idaho Falls, ID. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan temple.
She was the mother of three children, Debra (Steve Wimmer), Jolyn (Patrick McDonald), and Scott Reeder (Sidney). She has 7 grandchildren, Marc, Benjamin, Alison, Melyn, Michael, Brody and Paige. She has 7 great-grandchildren and was expecting another in January.
Mom was a stay at home mom until 1969 when she accepted a position in food services at USU. She worked in food preparation and later was promoted to a cashier’s position where she worked for 28 years. She loved her job. She was loved by students and professors alike.
She was active in her church and held many different positions including Relief Society President and Primary President which she loved because she loved children.
She loved her home and was a good friend and neighbor. Her summer garden was always filled with petunias and geraniums.
The most important people in her life were her family. She had athletes, cheerleaders, pianists, dancers and scholars. She liked to attend all of their activities until her health declined. She always cooked the absolute best Sunday dinners.
After she retired, LaFaye and Corkey liked to travel with her cousin Kaye and her husband Harl. She enjoyed her yearly trips to see her California kids. She was always happy to take care of her local grandkids when the parents were away.
Her sister Marlene was her best friend.
Mom loved her family unconditionally and her sweet spirit will be missed by all.
LaFaye is survived by her husband, Martin "Corky" Reeder, sister Marlene (Lynn Lindley), her brother Dwight (Ruth Mickelson).
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Leon and Gary, and two nephews.
Thank you to all skilled care givers who kept her comfortable in her passing. We love you Mom.
Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Funeral services will take place Thursday, January 3, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will take place in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
