NORTH LOGAN, UTAH: LaGrande C. Larsen, 90, Our husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He left a legacy of love, service and charity. He was the youngest of seven children born to Hyrum and Andrea Therese Larsen in Ashton, Idaho. He attended High School in Ashton and later graduated from Ricks College in 1936.
He fell in love with Betty June Butler of St. Anthony, Idaho as they were both working at the Remington Arms Plant in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple, 5 Feb. 1943. LaGrande and Betty are the parents of seven children: James (Judy), John (Marlys), Steven (Jeanne), Bruce (Debra), Ryan (Lauralyn), Wayne (Kris), Andrea Davis (Ted), with 48 grandchildren, and 101 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John and 5 grandchildren.
He graduated from University of Utah Medical School then completed a general residency in the Navy at the Naval Hospital in San Leandro, California. He started his medical practice in his hometown of Ashton, Idaho. He then moved to Driggs, Idaho and practiced for 15 years. After completing a residence in Urology at the University of Utah (1965-68), he established a practice in Logan and lived in River Heights.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including USU Branch President, Stake President of the Driggs, Idaho Teton Stake, and again as President of the
USU 3rd Stake. He also served on the Church Genealogical Committee. He and Betty served an LDS mission to the Philippines. They also served in the Logan Temple.
LaGrande will be remembered for many things: His love for the scriptures, the meaningful way he taught the gospel, his great patience to everyone and his generosity to those in need.
He loved to build. He built a home for his parents while attending Ricks College. Later he built a bigger structure, Pickleville Playhouse, where for over 30 years, he and Betty have enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren perform on stage.
He's life was full of accomplishments that have blessed the lives of others. We love you Dad!
Funeral services will be held at the LDS church, 2750 N 800 E, North Logan Wednesday 11:00 a.m., 16 Dec. 2009.
Viewing Tuesday 6-8 p.m., Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E 1800 N, and Wednesday at the church prior to the services 9:30-10:45 p.m .
