LaRae Hulse Reynolds, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend completed her earthly mission on June 4, 2023.
LaRae was born December 1,1931 in Millville, UT to Selwyn and Afton Hulse. She was the third of five children, having two brothers and two sisters. She attended South Cache High School where she met her eternal companion, Joseph W. Reynolds. They were married on February 14, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. Joe and LaRae lived in many different places while Joe served in the United States Air Force. They eventually settled in Pleasant Hill, CA and together raised seven children. LaRae is survived by her children: Janette Detro, Craig Reynolds (Lucy), daughter-in-law Patty Reynolds, Kevin Reynolds (Lori), Alison Lansdale (Lawrence), Darin Reynolds (Wendy) and Jalaine Hroza (Craig). She was an adoring grandma to 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. LaRae is also survived by her sister, Janice Bingham and brother, Charles Eugene Hulse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents, two siblings, son Bryan, daughter-in-law Tish and great-granddaughter Isabelle.
Mom was an avid sports fan. She learned to love sports from a very young age. It was rumored she wore shorts under her dresses so she could play kickball at recess with the boys. She really loved watching her teams. The joke among the siblings was to never call mom in the evenings. If a ball game was on, she couldn’t focus on the game and the conversation at the same time. The game usually took precedence and we would have to call back at another time. She loved the Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants and any BYU team that was playing. She always supported us in whatever sport we played and was usually the loudest cheerleader. Mom was an accomplished flute player, amazing pianist and taught herself to play the organ. She had an incredible voice and sang in many choirs and singing groups. Her other interests included reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, gardening and growing flowers.
LaRae and Joe served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their first mission was serving the Cambodian people in Oakland, CA as service/leadership missionaries. The second was to The Historic Nauvoo, IL Church History Site. LaRae loved her time there as a performing Nauvoo missionary. The third mission was to Haiti and Miami, FL. She developed a great love for the Haitian people and their humble surroundings.
Mom was loved by many and a friend to everyone she met. She had a quiet way about her, but was always first in line to lend a helping hand in any situation. We will all miss her sense of humor and her contagious smile. She will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for the caregivers at Blacksmith Fork Assisted Living for their love, kindness and care for mom in her final days. Also to the many neighbors and family that looked in on her after the passing of our dad.
Viewing will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, UT and from 10-11.30 am prior to the service at the church.
