Larry Bartlett

February 13, 1943 — February 20, 2012

HYRUM - Larry Richard (Dick) Bartlett, 69, returned home to his Heavenly Father February 20, 2012, following a courageous battle with an infection after his recent kidney transplant. Dick was born February 13, 1943 in Denver, Colorado, to Ray and Jessie Bartlett. He attended schools in Denver, and graduated from the College of Business Administration at Denver University.
Dick was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 19 years old and served in many capacities throughout his life including serving in multiple Bishoprics as young as 23 years old and serving as President of the Hyrum, UT Stake Young Singles Ward. One of his highlights was being able to serve a mission with his wife Joyce in Lesotho, South Africa in 1992-1994. He loved sharing the gospel and is now continuing his work on the other side. He was devoted to both his immediate family (7 children) and his extended family.
His interests were many, including snowmobiling, ATV’ing, camping, and a tremendous love of cars of which he owned 44, including many classics when he was younger. His other passion throughout his life was his horses. Over the years he owned a total of 37 horses, including his prized Appaloosa Stallion, Chuchara High Knife (Charlie). Dick also had a love for writing children’s books and stories and also published a book on marriage as well as his own history, all of which are cherished by his family and friends. Dick was an incredible businessman running his own companies as well as working for others across the United States and in Cache Valley most recently working as a real estate agent and Broker.
Dick is survived by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Joyce. He is also survived by his father Alva Ray Bartlett, his brothers Dan Bartlett, Don Bartlett, and children Douglas (Holly) Bartlett, Dale (Michelle) Bartlett, Darren (Becky) Bartlett, Christine (Todd) Spies, Dustin Bartlett, and Carrie (Dustin) Hunter. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Nicholas, Jordan, Olivia, Brianne, Cameron, Devon, Marissa, Joshua, Ashtin, Bronson, Brandi, Michael, Zackary, Zander,Tyson, Brooke, Brittany, Colton and five great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son David Richard, and his mother Jesse Rose. He was our rock and a great comfort and joy to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24th at the Hyrum Stake Center, 590 South 200 East in Hyrum. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center in Logan between 6-8 PM and again on from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to services at the stake center on Friday. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net .
