LaRue Bennett Baird Peterson passed away on October 31, 2013. She was born February 25, 1927, in Mink Creek Idaho, the daughter of Harold K Baird and Verla Bennett Baird.
She was raised in Mink Creek Idaho and Onieda Station, Idaho. She married LaNard Richard Peterson June 4, 1947 in Logan Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived most of her life in Logan Utah in the second ward in Logan Stake. She and her husband owned and operated. LaNards Fine Foods and Harold Cafe in Logan. She worked at CC Andersons, The Delmar, Green Canyon Tree Nursery, and as a maid for 18 years at Weston Inn. LaRue was known throughout Cache Valley for her beautiful gardens, she won 17 awards from the State Civic Beautification. She loved to share her wonderful garden. Her friends and ward members called her yard “the garden of Eden” where she hosted many parties for her ward and garden club. She was active in the LDS Church and served as Sunday School Secretary for many years.
She is survived by one daughter and 5 sons and their spouses. Verla Peterson Page and Jason Allan Page, Hamilton Virginia; Clair Boyd Peterson and Lora Peterson, Logan Utah; Quain Stacy Peterson, Preston Idaho; Lantz Denzil Peterson and Tamara Peterson Logan, Utah; Mark Edward Peterson, Iona, Idaho; Shane Harold Peterson, Logan, Utah. She is also survived by two brothers and their spouses and one sister. Gale Baird and Velda Baird, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Denzil Baird and Dorothy Baird, Brigham City, Utah. Gale Baird, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jill Hobbs, Nicholls, Georgia.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband by one son Richard LaNard Peterson and two brothers Milton and Clair Baird.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the mortuary and prior to services on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Logan City Cemetery.
