Hyde Park – Launa Gaye Floyd Daines passed away unexpectedly at her home December 27th 2010. Launa was born July 23, 1950 to Roscoe L. Floyd and Faye Thomas Floyd. Launa married Steven Daines on March 18, 1971. They raised a family of four children together.
Launa was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many positions. She attended Utah State University and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and a Masters degree in special education. Launa went on to teach special education and 1st grade and was in her 25th year of teaching. She loved the children she taught and enjoyed the challenges and rewards of teaching young children to read. Her most cherished accomplishments are mother of four and grandmother of 15. Launa truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved holding her new grandchildren and would do so for hours at a time finding joy in their peaceful expressions.
Launa will be missed dearly, and is survived by her husband of 39 years, Steven Daines; her children: Brent (Rosemary), of Milwaukee WI., Robyn (Trevis) Andersen, of Clearfield, Angela (Joe) Johnson, of Smithfield, Allison (Nolan) Ward, of Salt Lake; 15 grandchildren; five siblings: Farren, Darrel, Julie, Cheryl, and Steven. Launa was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am December 31, 2010 at Hyde Park 1st Ward located at 480 North 100 West. A viewing will take place Thursday, Dec. 30, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., in Logan, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Hyde Park Cemetery.
