Laurie May Thorson, 57, completed her earthly journey on Thursday, March 6, 2014, in Logan Utah. She is now free of pain following years of poor health.
Laurie was born December 16, 1956, in Ogden Utah, the daughter of Grant and June Bowcutt Thorson. During her early years she was surrounded by loving grandparents, siblings and a pack of cousins. As part of a “Forest Service Family”, she was blessed to live in beautiful, remote locations in Southern Utah and Central Idaho. She was an avid horsewoman and participated in all the activities small towns afford.
Laurie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree in English from Utah State University. She was an avid seeker of knowledge. She loved books, art, music, dance, language, and all living things. She approached life with wonder and a desire to share and participate in the journeys of those around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grant Thorson. She is survived by her mother, June Thorson; her sisters Lisa Thorson; Julie (Lynn) Hansen; Karen (Lance) Buxton; loving nieces and nephews; and her much loved kitties Sarah and Rowan.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Thursday, March 13, at the Allen Mortuary Chapel, 420 E 1800 N, North Logan. The family invites you to join us during the hour prior to the service to share our sadness and love.
