Lavell M. Leishman,78, passed away of an extended illness on July 28, 2009 at his home in Wellsville, Utah with his family at his side.
He was born on June 22, 1931, to Gretta M. and LeRoy A Leishman. The second child of four children. Dad attended Wellsville Elementary and South Cache High School.
On Sept. 7, 1951 Dad married Connie Lee Isaacson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the proud parents of nine children.
After serving four years in the Air Force, Dad returned to Wellsville and worked for Mt. Bell for 35 years.
Upon retiring Dad and Mom served an enjoyable LDS Mission to Nauvoo, Illinois where his love for animals and handy work joined together in the Blacksmith Shop and also giving visitors buggy rides. Dad was handy with tools and could fix anything. He liked to tinker out in his shop. Dad loved to fish and kept the best fishing holes a secret. Although a quiet man, he always had a joke or trick up his sleeve.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Lee Leishman. Children; Pam (Joe) Dahl of Richmond, Ut. Keven (Margie) Leishman of Hyrum, Ut. Randy (Jan) Leishman of Welisville,Ut. Kendall Leishman (Janie Isaacson) of Wellsville, Ut. Suzanne (Tom) Edwards of Preston, Id. Jeff (Tammy) Leishman of Wellsville, Ut. Brian (Libby) Leishman of Wellsville,Ut. 26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Sisters, Faye L. Orr and Joyce (Cecil) Payne and sister-in-law Hazel Leishman.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant son, his parents Gretta and LeRoy Leishman. A great-granddaughter, Taylor Jo Andrus, a brother, Homer M. Leishman and a brother-in-law, Larry Orr.
A special thanks to all family members and friends who helped comfort and support Dad. Also, thank you to Dr. David Faux, Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and prior to services on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery.
